Leading jobs search site names RCL a ‘Top-Rated Workplace’

They call it a “privileged glimpse into other workplaces” offering “new opportunities to learn from high-performing companies, as we can see how they keep their employees engaged and satisfied.”

After data analysts processed 72 million employee ratings and reviews of companies across the U.S., Indeed.com, the world’s highest-traffic jobs search engine, cited Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. as one of its Top-Rated Workplaces in 2018.

Based on 1,493 reviews and rated on a scale of five stars, RCL scored 4.2 overall; 4.1 for Culture; 3.8 for Work/Life Balance; 3.8 for Compensation/Benefits; 3.8 for Job Security/Advancement; and 3.8 for Management.

The cruiseline was also rated 82 out of 100 for Diversity, a score that “tracks how positively diverse employees rate their experience.”

The global search engine noted that “in a recent survey, 95 percent of job seekers told Indeed.com that if they were considering a new job opportunity, insight into a company’s reputation would be ‘somewhat’ or ‘extremely’ important.”

Current and former RCL employees offered plenty of feedback. The following are edited excerpts from RCL employee comments posted by Indeed.com:

Youth staff member – “I worked for Royal Caribbean for only 5 months, and I have to say it was the best 5 months of my life. It is truly a lot of work (I averaged 60 hours per week), but I also was able to travel around to 15 different countries during my time there.”

Learning, development consultant – “If you work hard you will be recognized. Consistent growth allows for promotions, and career development is very important to the company. Excellent opportunity to work among diverse cultures and experience the world as you work.”

Actress/vocalist – “It is a melting pot of races, color and creed, working under one roof, with one common goal of great guest satisfaction through great customer service, delivering a vacation of a lifetime.”

Specialist, New Build – “They invest in building their staff and initiate tons of activities to make their staff feel appreciated. It’s a high stress job but a fun environment.”

Accessible shore excursions coordinator – “I helped guests with disabilities explore the world and enjoy shore excursions in the ports of call. It was a great satisfaction knowing that I was doing this for our guests.”

Ship doctor – “Learning that to act swiftly and courteously brings about a great atmosphere within the team. The workplace culture depends on each team player making the hardest part of the job more pleasant.”
